Cohen & Co is excited to announce it has donated $10,000 via the Cohen & Co Community Foundation to both Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh. The donations celebrate the firm’s 10-year anniversary in each office location.
Detroit Riverfront Conservancy champions the stewardship and preservation of the downtown Riverfront, public parks and greenways. Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh is dedicated to the welfare of animals, pet owners and the community, operating two low-cost vet clinics and a wildlife rehabilitation center.
“Our people have always played an important role in how we engage with the communities in which we work, so we wanted employees to have a voice in how we celebrate 10 years in Detroit and Pittsburgh,” says Cohen & Co CEO Chris Bellamy. “Both Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and Humane Animal Rescue are organizations our people have supported and volunteered with over the years, so we’re pleased to continue supporting their work.”
In addition to Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, Cohen & Co’s support in Southeast Michigan extends to organizations such as Keep Growing Detroit, Forgotten Harvest, Ferndale Cat Shelter, Lighthouse, Motor City Mitten Mission, Rippling Hope and more. The firm entered the Michigan market in 2016 with the acquisition of GHD CPAs and Advisors. Cohen & Co then opened a downtown Detroit location in 2017 and acquired Gordon Advisors in Troy earlier this spring. These strategic acquisitions, along with key entry-level and experienced hires over the past 10 years, have brought the firm’s Southeast Michigan footprint to nearly 80 employees — also making it one of Cohen & Co’s largest geographic markets.
The firm’s Pittsburgh team of approximately 40 employees regularly volunteers not only with the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, but also the American Cancer Society, Animal Friends, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Neighborhood Resilience Project. The office, which opened in 2016, offers comprehensive tax, assurance and advisory services to numerous industries in the greater Pittsburgh area.
