Cohen & Co is proud to announce Asha Shettigar has joined the firm’s New York City office as a tax partner and lead of the firm’s REIT Practice. With nearly 25 years experience, including Big 4 accounting firm and global consulting backgrounds, Asha has worked with some of the largest public and private Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), asset managers, private equity funds, real estate companies, pension funds, sovereign funds and other global funds in the U.S. Recognized as an expert in REITs and transaction tax, she is adept at helping clients identify opportunities and navigate sophisticated tax issues throughout the lifecycle of the investment.

A CPA and Chartered Accountant, Asha is a member of National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Urban Land Institute (ULI), New York State Society of CPAs and American Institute of CPAs. She also serves as a mentor for REDEI (Real Estate Diversity, Equity & Inclusion).
Asha earned her LL.B., as well as her M.Com and B.Com in accounting and taxation, at University of Mumbai. She has been listed in Marquis Who’s Who, in Women of Influence and Fifty Under 40 by GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum, and as a Rising Star in Real Estate Weekly.
