Carlos has a passion for patterns. A lifelong tinkerer with technology, he enjoys looking beyond individual numbers or accounting issues to understand how the pieces of an organization connect — and to recognize relationships that may not be immediately apparent. He uses technology and emerging analytical tools to explore those connections, challenge assumptions and examine information in new ways. Combined, his insights allow Carlos to do what he loves most — help clients understand what matters, anticipate what’s ahead and identify what’s next.
Beginning his public accounting career in 2010, Carlos developed an early specialty serving construction, manufacturing and not-for-profit organizations in the middle market. Over his career in public and private accounting, he has developed and led assurance engagement teams ranging from 20 to over 2,000 hours, overseen the financial close of multitiered consolidated entities in a SOX-regulated environment, and navigated ERP implementations from both sides of the audit relationship. As a former CFO, Carlos worked directly with owners, investors and leadership teams on financial strategy and operational management. The entirety of his experience provides him with the insight and perspective to advise organizational leaders on internal controls, complex accounting matters and business acquisitions, while also working one-on-one with entrepreneurs in a mentorship capacity.
Outside of work, Carlos’ curiosity keeps him busy. He enjoys practicing classical guitar, kayak fishing, snowboarding and skydiving. He’s also an avid reader and lifelong learner fascinated by subjects ranging from history and economics to emerging technology and how people think, make decisions and build effective organizations.
