The Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPAs) has selected Assurance Partner Marie Brilmyer as a 2024 Power of Change honoree, celebrating her role in shaping the accounting profession for women leaders through extraordinary leadership, community involvement, mentorship and innovation.
Brilmyer has spent her career dedicated to not only working with private companies and leading the firm’s Not-for-Profit Group, but also helping women advance in the accounting profession, at Cohen & Co and beyond. From launching a grassroots effort that led to the creation of the OSCPA’s first women’s initiative, to serving on the American Institute of CPAs’ Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee, where she helped fulfill the professional needs of more than 20,000 women CPAs internationally — Brilmyer is passionate about mentoring and empowering women to find their voice. She also helped launch Cohen & Co’s Women’s Initiative, where she currently leads the group’s professional development efforts.
Brilmyer also actively volunteers with local organizations, including treasurer of the Victim Assistance Program of Summit County and board member for Habitat for Humanity of Summit County, and was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of the Women’s Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation.
